Geography (2023 cohort)

My research focuses on social network analysis and the ways farming communities adapt to diverse shocks and risks, particularly those driven by climate change. I am especially interested in exploring the dynamics of social capital and the network of relationships among various stakeholders within these communities. In my PhD project, thus, I examine the systematic risks and shocks impacting farmers in central Iran. This also includes analysing the structure and quality of relationships among local farmers, agricultural organizations, and national and international actors, all of whom might influence the resilience and adaptation of these networks.

At present, I am doing my PhD at the Faculty of Art and Social Sciences, The Open University. Prior to this, I did my master’s and bachelor’s degree in human geography at University of Tehran, Iran. You can read more about my master’s project focusing on social network analysis and farming societies in this paper published in the Journal of Environmental Planning and Management: Social capital and farmers’ leadership in Iranian rural communities: application of social network analysis: Journal of Environmental Planning and Management: Vol 66, No 5
