Using an enthnographic approach my PhD aims to understand the reasons the frail elderly attend and are admitted to hospital during the last year of their life. I have an interest both professionally and personally in understanding the pathway that leads to their admission and their experiences during that process. Through sharing this study with my collaborative partners this may help to inform future service improvements in this area.

I am a registered nurse with a background in community nursing. Most of my clinical experience has been working with the frail elderly, supporting them to remain at home when possible both in the UK and in New Zealand. Currently I am a part-time Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing.
