Politics (2014 cohort)
I am a DPhil student at St Cross College and my research looks at Euroscepticism within the Parliamentary Conservative Party. In particular, I focus on the ideological grounds which Parliamentarians have for their Euroscepticism and why Eurosceptics are selected for Parliament.
The timeframe for my research is 1992 to the present day. So far my methodology has been quantitative involving statistical analysis of a database of Conservative MPs, which I have created. I plan to add to this with content analysis of speeches and interviews with MPs and other relevant individuals.
Outside of my research, I am a tutor for the undergraduate papers Politics of the European Union and Politics in Europe.
Prior to attending the University of Oxford I gained a Distinction in my Masters in Public Administrations and Public Policy from the University of York. In my undergraduate degree studies at the London School of Economics, I received a First Class Honours BSc in Government and won the Iain and Louise Crawford Award for political science.
