Education (2015 cohort)
I am a doctoral student at the Department of Education with a specialisation in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition. My research is concerned with informal second language learning through engagement with online media and virtual communities.
It is funded by the ESRC and the Foundation for German Business. I have returned to Oxford for my doctoral studies after working as an International Marketing Assistant for Amsterdam University Press. I previously completed my MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Oxford, for which I was awarded a distinction. My dissertation focused on English vocabulary learning from watching YouTube videos and reading blog posts. I obtained my first degree, an Honours BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences, from Amsterdam University College, where I focused on linguistics, psychology, and media studies
