Social Policy & Intervention (2024 cohort)

Charlotte Evans is a DPhil student in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. Supervised by Dr. Amiya Bhatia and Dr. Gabriela Pavarini, her research focuses on identifying the foundations of high-quality youth mental health care services in low-resource settings, with a particular emphasis on evaluating the role of emerging digital mental health interventions (DMIHs) in enhancing care delivery. Charlotte aims to centre young people's perspectives in the development of quality framework for DMHIs to ensure they are meeting rather than further marginalizing youth mental healthcare needs and bolstering overall mental health service coverage.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Charlotte served as Senior Coordinator on the Partners in Health (PIH) Mental Health Team, where she managed a global collaborative dedicated to developing high-quality, community-based mental health services across 10 care delivery sites. She also worked as a Lombard Research Fellow at the Canadian Institute for Health Research Support for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) Unit in the Northwest Territories, collaborating with Indigenous communities to promote cultural safety across health and social systems in Canada.

Charlotte holds an MPhil in Population Health Sciences from the University of Cambridge, specializing in Global Health and holds a BA with honors in Geography and Medical Sciences from Dartmouth College. Her master's dissertation (distinction) and undergraduate thesis (award for the highest methodological rigor) focused on developing new measures to evaluate mental health and youth mental health systems coverage in the United States and Chile. Beyond her academic training Charlotte leads and manages a youth mental health research agenda within the ListenUp for Youth Mental Health initiative at McGill University.
