Health and Wellbeing (2018)
Through a practitioner-ethnographer approach, my PhD study aims to understand the nature, context and scope of District Nurses’ psychological support role in palliative care. I wish to illuminate this hidden work and reconceptualise the patient-carer-nurse encounter in order to understand what aids or hinders psychological support in this context. It is hoped that improved knowledge and insight can guide clinical practice for the benefit of patients and their carers.
I am a Registered Nurse and have worked across different regions as a District Nurse and Community Macmillan Nurse. My Masters degree in Applied Social Research explored District Nurses’ supportive role in palliative care and facilitated subsequent clinical-facing service development activity. I currently work as a part-time Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing.
