Economics (2021 cohort)
As I am still in the MPhil part of the combined programme, the focus of my PhD has not yet been fully established. I am most interested in environmental economics, industrial organisation and auctions, which I hope to combine with my passion for sustainability and strong quantitative skills.
I was born and raised in Sweden, where I spent a lot of my free time studying extracurricular physics. This passion took me to the International Physics Olympiad, where I received a bronze medal, and eventually landed an offer to study an undergraduate degree in natural sciences at the University of Cambridge. Once at University, I spent my summers exploring opportunities to have positive impact by completing a series of internships in both academia, the private sector and the public sector. This way, I grew more and more interested in economics, until I finally decided to take a leap of faith and (after gaining special permission) switch degrees. Hence, I completed an unconventional combination of Physics and Economics at Cambridge (two years of each). After a year out working as an environmental economics consultant, I now thrilled to be starting my graduate studies at the University of Oxford with support from the DTP.
