Grand Union DTP Complaints and Appeals Procedure

Purpose

This guidance outlines how students applying for funding and/or funded by the Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership (GUDTP) can submit complaints and appeals.

It aims to ensure that students can raise matters of concern without fear of disadvantage and in the knowledge that privacy and confidentiality will be respected. We take all complaints seriously and use information from them to help us to improve our services.

The Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership (GUDTP) is a collaborative partnership between the Open University, the University of Oxford, and Brunel University of London. It disburses Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and institutional funds through the award of doctoral DTP studentships, and in support of needs-based training and development for its award-holders.

The guidance outlines where students should direct their complaints to, depending on the nature of the complaint and the institution where the student is registered.

Complaints relating to academic decisions do not fall under this procedure.

If you need assistance on where to direct your concern, complaint or appeal, please contact the relevant GUDTP Manager:

Complaints and Appeals Processes

Expand All

Before raising a formal Complaint or Appeal, a student should contact the relevant GUDTP Manager and/or GUDTP (Associate) Director at their registered institution to discuss concerns and, if possible, resolve the matter informally. Students should undertake Stage 1 in a timely fashion in order to comply with the timeframes set out in the relevant complaints/appeals policies under Stage 2.
