What is this session about?
This introductory session, tailored to those new to policy engagement, is designed to help doctoral students in social sciences develop their motivation for impact into a structured understanding of how to engage with the public policy world. You will benefit from a combination of presentations and opportunities to discuss with peers your motivations, plans, and challenges when it comes to engaging with policymakers and the public policy world. This trainining is open to GUDTP students only and will offer excellent preparation for our next event: 'The Social Sciences in Public Policy', for which you should register separately.

This session will be delivered by Jose Rojas Alvarado, Learning & Development Manager, OPEN.
Dylan Thurgood and Vittorio Bruni, GUDTP scholars who have recently completed placements in the Open Innovation Team (OIT) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) respectively will be there to discuss their reasons for choosing these placements and how these professional development opportunities shaped their current thinking about their research and career.
