Placement in Digital Content Management with the SDG Impact Lab

The Oxford SDG Impact Lab is seeking a project manager to lead the transformation of our highly acclaimed Masterclass series into an online learning programme, serving as a pilot for our broader Virtual SDG Impact Network (VISION Lab) initiative.

Who We Are

The SDG Impact Lab at the University of Oxford brings together academic expertise and real-world practice to address sustainable development challenges. Established in 2021, the Lab empowers graduate students to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals through our comprehensive extracurricular programme.

The Project

We are creating a high-quality digital pilot of our existing Masterclass curriculum to overcome physical space limitations and extend our reach to graduate students unable to attend in person. The pilot will focus on converting our current "Ethics, Evidence and Engagement" lectures into engaging digital content, including rerecording key lectures specifically for online audiences, while also editing longer academic presentations recorded in the Spring to make them accessible and engaging.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Adaptation & Content Development
  • Lead the conversion of existing Masterclass curriculum into engaging online learning experience
  • Work closely with the SDG Impact Lab team to adapt "Ethics, Evidence and Engagement" lectures for digital delivery
  • Develop scripts for rerecording key lectures specifically designed for online audiences, using existing in-person lectures as the foundation
  • Create compelling public-facing content that makes complex academic concepts accessible to broader audiences

Content Production & Management

  • Plan and coordinate filming sessions for rerecorded "Ethics, Evidence and Engagement" lectures
  • Manage post-production editing for both new recordings and existing content
  • Write clear, engaging scripts that adapt in-person lecture content for online delivery
  • Ensure consistent quality standards across all digital content within project timeline

Project Management & Coordination

  • Oversee the focused 3-month digital transformation process with clear milestones and deliverables
  • Schedule and coordinate filming sessions with Lab team members
  • Monitor progress and make rapid adjustments to stay on track for pilot launch
Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Content Development & Public Communication | Experience in transforming academic or complex content into engaging, accessible formats for public audiences - this could include video production, social media content creation, science communication, or educational outreach work
  • Production & Filming Skills | Experience in video production including filming, basic lighting/audio setup, and post-production editing - formal professional experience preferred, but strong portfolio work (including student projects, personal content creation, or volunteer work) will be considered
  • Script Writing | Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging scripts or adapt existing content for video/online formats
  • Communication Skills | Proven ability to make complex topics accessible and engaging for diverse audiences through clear, compelling communication
  • Project Management | Strong organisational skills with ability to work independently and deliver results within tight timeframes
  • Adaptability | Comfortable working with existing lecture materials and transforming them for new formats and audiences

Desirable

  • Experience working with academic institutions or in higher education environments
  • Knowledge of sustainability, international development, or SDG-related content areas
  • Background in science communication, public engagement, or educational outreach
  • Experience with filming equipment, lighting, and audio setup
  • Previous work in script writing for educational or public communication content
  • Familiarity with video editing software and content creation tools
  • Experience adapting academic content for public audiences
Development Opportunities

This role offers exceptional professional development opportunities:

  • Lead a focused digital transformation project with clear deliverables and timeline
  • Build expertise in rapid content adaptation and public communication
  • Develop skills in educational video production and digital content creation
  • Work closely with the SDG Impact Lab team on innovative sustainability education
  • Contribute to making academic research accessible to broader audiences
  • Gain hands-on experience in project management within academic settings
