Health and Wellbeing (2024 cohort)
Inés’ PhD research project aims to obtain a more holistic understanding of the social elements of circular economy (CE) policymaking by investigating how social value and community well-being are generated within CE hubs. The project is conducted within the context of a newly established CE hub in the London Borough of Acton and is carried out in collaboration with the West London Waste Authority (WLWA)
Inés’ research is primarily addressed through the lens of Urban Political Ecology, a conceptual approach which untangles the interrelated economic, political, social, and ecological processes that lead to highly unequal and unjust urban environments. The project also aims to have a positive and lasting impact on local policymaking.
Inés has previously worked with the London Borough of Camden Council’s Environment Services and the Oxfordshire Community Land Trust. She has also worked as a Research Assistant at both the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) and the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy.
Inés holds a BASc (First class hons.) from University College London (UCL), and an MPhil Global and Area Studies from the University of Oxford, for which she received a studentship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). She was also awarded a Scholarship for Academic Merit by the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies.
