Moa Schafer

Social Policy and Intervention (2020 Cohort).

Moa Schafer is a doctoral student in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. In her research, she investigates the intersection between violence against children (VAC) and intimate partner violence (IPV). In particular, her research seeks to examine how parenting interventions aiming to reduce VAC might also have an impact on IPV. Given the high co-occurrence of VAC and IPV, Moa is interested in exploring how interventions, such as parenting programmes, may have the potential to prevent both forms of violence.

Before starting her DPhil, Moa completed an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation with distinction at the University of Oxford. Prior to this, she graduated with a first-class joint honours degree in Psychology and Business and Management from the University of Glasgow.

Alongside her studies, Moa has worked with numerous non-profit organisations, including UNICEF and the Swedish children's rights organisation BRIS. She has also been involved in various research projects and prevention initiatives in countries including Malaysia, India, Thailand, Sweden, and the UK. Her DPhil is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and by the Balliol College Dervorguilla scholarship and the Saven European scholarship at the University of Oxford.
