Education (2014 cohort)

My DPhil thesis is focused on the study of child protection systems, more specifically foster care in England and in Portugal. Based on a comparative study I intend to investigate and describe the characteristics of foster carers that are associated with children’s emotional, social and behavioural outcomes, and potential for placement stability.

The study is designed to contribute to the selection and training process of foster carers. I'm also a collaborating researcher at the InEd-Center for Research and Innovation in Education at the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

Before coming to Oxford, I completed an Undergraduate degree in Psychological Sciences and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology at ISPA (University Institute in Portugal). I also completed two Postgraduate programmes, the first on “Protection of Minors” at the Faculty of Law, University of Coimbra, and the other on “Data Analysis in the Social Science” at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon, both in Portugal.
