Socio-Legal Studies (2014 cohort)
I am a second-year DPhil candidate at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies in the Faculty of Law. I am examining the process through which asylum claims are evaluated at the main reception centres in Bulgaria.
More specifically, I am examining the range of factors that impact upon the decision-making process in evaluating asylum claims.
Prior to beginning my DPhil, I was based at the Department of International Development at the University of Oxford, where I completed an MSc, specializing in Migration Studies. In addition, I have studied International Law, Archaeology, and Ethics at Harvard University and have completed a Diploma in International Law at the University of Geneva. I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts at McGill University.
In addition to my academic work, I have worked for the International Migration Institute (IMI) and the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford, as well as UNICEF Canada, the McGill Centre for International and Peace Studies, and the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies.
