Migration (2018)

rebecca buxton

My research focused on ethics and forced displacement. For my DPhil, I am specifically focusing on forced displacement resulting from climate change and looking at the rights of ‘climate refugees’ that are displaced together. In particular I am interested in whether the international community has any special reparative obligations towards those small island states displaced by sea-level rise, such as the obligation to offer them new land.

I have previously studied for a BA in Philosophy at King’s College London. I then studied for an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies at the University of Oxford. Before applying for a DPhil, I worked in the House of Commons as a Parliamentary Researcher.
