Sociology (2019 cohort)
I am a DPhil candidate at Nuffield College. In seeking to better understand online environmental discourse and influence, my research considers inter-relationships between politics, the mass media and the general public. It aims to provide greater insight into the dynamics of environmental activism, focusing on those engaging in online discussion. Through comparison of normative cases, I seek to understand how levels of reporting varies, and in turn, how online environmental media is consumed and used in public discourse to differing degrees. I am particularly interested in understanding what motivates environmentalism, and how the content and medium of an issue influences subsequent response, discussion and engagement.
Prior to commencing my DPhil I completed a MSc in Sociology at the University of Oxford and a BSc in Political Economy at King’s College London.
