Margie has undertaken degrees in Classics and English (BA), Theology, Philosophy and Ethics (AKC), and Digital Anthropology (MSc). She has worked at the Centre for Research on Sociocultural Change (CReSC) on various projects evaluating international cultural diplomacy, and on Mapping Refugee Media Journeys, a report about refugees' uses of smartphones. Margie continues to work for The Observer and Open Migration.

Research interests: innovation, big data, digital infrastructures, distributed ledger technologies, international development, ICTs for development, power, human rights, transparency and trust, privacy and security, identity and digital identity, media, anthropology, STS, methods.
