During my PhD I want to research whether users’ intentions are unambiguously reflected in their online search behaviour and can also easily be derived from it. Furthermore, can search queries be used as distinct predictors for users’ subsequent online actions? My interest areas are: Statistics, Predictive Models, Search Behaviour, Search Engines, Machine Learning.

Katharina holds a BSc in Business Statistics from Freie University Berlin and Harvard University as well as a MSc in Statistics from Oxford University. After interning in Shanghai, Berlin and Hamburg at Porsche, IBS and KPMG in their Business Intelligence Department, Katharina started working at Google as a Statistical Data Science Analyst, first for the Travel section of the Google Search in Hamburg, later for Google Maps in London. Katharina will join Dr Scott Hales research team, focusing on developing predictive statistical models for user behavior online.
