Sociology (2014 cohort)
For my DPhil in Sociology at Nuffield College, I work on social inequality and education, using quantitative methods. I am particularly interested in ethnic diversity; my research has so far focused on European countries.
The first part of my thesis is focused on exploring discrimination in the classroom and its impact on educational performance, using social network data. For future work, I am interested in exploring the co-evolution of friendships and educational aspirations and success, using longitudinal social network analysis, while explicitly focusing on the integration of ethnic minority adolescents.
Furthermore, I would like to explore the transition of adolescents into the labour market, and how this is affected by networks of support and experiences of discrimination.
I have an MA in National and Transnational Studies from the University of Münster in Germany, as well as an MSc in Sociology from the University of Oxford.
