International Development (2014 cohort)
I am in the third year of the DPhil programme in International Development. Prior to my DPhil, I earned an MSc in Global Governance and Diplomacy from the University of Oxford (distinction) and an MA in International Relations from the Universität Bremen as a Friedrich Naumann scholar.
My dissertation explores different patterns of upgrading among smallholders' entering global and regional value chains in developing countries, with a specific focus on the garment and leather sectors in Kenya. The study proposes a mixed methodology combining qualitative methods of data analysis with a quantitative study of export transaction data to assess levels of governance and upgrading on a South-South vs. South-North trajectory.
