My MPhil research focused on metrical stress in Cairene and Palestinian Arabic, and how this interacts with the broader morphological and phonological system. I will expand this further for my DPhil, considering a broader range of dialects, morphophonological issues, and will test some of these through psycholinguistic methods such as priming experiments on morphological decomposition. More broadly, this research explores how the mental lexicon is structured and how it interacts with other modules for language processing.
I read for a BA in Oriental Studies (Arabic with Turkish) at Pembroke College, Oxford. I completed my MPhil in General Linguistics and Comparative Philology at Worcester College, Oxford, and am now moving to St. Catherine’s College, Oxford for my DPhil.
